Meet the Founders
Mr. Vijay Singh Panwar
Founder of The Khair Project
Mr. Vijay Singh Panwar is a visionary entrepreneur and the founder of The Khair Project, a purpose-driven initiative dedicated to creating sustainable opportunities in Uttarakhand. With over 30 years of professional experience, he has built a reputation for integrity, dedication, and socially conscious leadership. Deeply connected to his roots, Mr. Panwar is committed to addressing the long-standing issue of migration from Uttarakhand by generating local employment, improving access to essential services, and fostering self-reliance within the region. His work reflects a powerful blend of modern development and traditional values, aimed at preserving the culture and identity of his homeland.
The inspiration behind The Khair Project comes from a deeply personal story connected to his late father, who migrated from Uttarakhand to Delhi in search of better opportunities. Although his father always dreamed of returning to his native village after retirement, inadequate healthcare facilities prevented him from fulfilling that wish during his battle with kidney failure. Moved by this unfulfilled dream, Mr. Vijay Singh Panwar chose to settle in Rishikesh and transform his father’s ancestral land into The Khair Project—a symbol of legacy, resilience, and hope. Through this initiative, he seeks to ensure that future generations can build fulfilling lives in Uttarakhand without being forced to leave their homes in search of basic necessities.
Mrs. Anita R. Panwar is a celebrated regional singer from Uttarakhand and a founding member and investor of the Khair project. With a prolific musical career spanning over 50 songs in Garhwali and Kumaoni languages, she has earned recognition for her soulful renditions celebrating love, the Himalayan landscape, and the rich jungle-mountain culture of her homeland. She has collaborated with several famous personalities from Uttarakhand, delivering memorable solo and duet performances that resonate deeply with the diaspora.
Her personal connection to migration runs deep — her father left his hometown in Uttarakhand for Delhi in search of better opportunities, carrying a lifelong longing for the mountains. Inspired by this experience, Mrs. Panwar's vision extends beyond music. Through the Khair project, she aims to create sustainable economic ventures within the region so that locals no longer feel compelled to migrate. Her mission is to enable people to earn livelihoods, boost the local economy, and care for their families — all while staying rooted in the land they love. Her work embodies a powerful blend of cultural preservation and grassroots economic empowerment.
